Consists of letters, book reviews, articles, and reviews, mainly relating to his scientific work. The majority of his papers consist of correspondence from scientific colleagues and admirers. There are several post-1950 letters from Fulton J. Sheen concerning Connolly's desire to establish an Institute of Missiology at CUA.

Cornelius Joseph Connolly was born on March 6, 1883 at Stellarton, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was the son of Cornelius Connolly and Mary Desmond. He was ordained June 29, 1907 at Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He later became a professor of comparative psychology and physical anthropology, and then was appointed head of the Department of Anthropology at Catholic University.
